The Grinch (PS1) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

Yes, the Grinch indeed has his own game,

that 'mean one' created by Seuss, just the same

With gadgets and widgets and blueprints galore,

the Grinch vows to end Christmas forevermore

With some assistance from his trusty dog Max,

the Grinch inflicts some unusual attacks

Pancaking, bad breath and rotten eggs too,

all effective in his assault on the land of Who

Despite its release with a movie coinciding,

its faithfulness to the story is hardly abiding

All the same, it's good fun playing that grumpy green pill,

and besides, if we don't steal Christmas... WHOVILLE?

Okay, I'll stop now.

Notes:

* Just to make it clear, Konami was merely the publisher, not the developer. With my emphasis on Konami at the beginning of the review, I'm not sure this was made explicitly clear.

** The similarities to Bugs and Taz might seem a bit of a stretch, but despite both games ultimately being very different, there are a number of small similarities - some of which I initially mentioned but decided to cut from the main review last-minute. For example:

- They both have a hub world (Mt Crumpit/Granwich) with access to four zones/eras.

- Max can be controlled with the right analog stick, as you can also do with Bugs or Taz.

- The rotten egg launcher is somewhat similar to Bugs' carrot throwing ability.

Overall, as I say, the games are very different - it just reminded me of Bugs and Taz because of these minor similarities. Just wanted to clear this up a little.

Anyway, otherwise, hope you enjoy this review. I had a lot more fun making this than I expected to! Thanks to Kaos Christ for your request - sorry it's taken a long time but I figured I wanted to make it a Christmas special.

Taz: Wanted (PS2) - i don't have a nose Video Review (500 SUB SPECIAL)!

Yes - the inexplicably popular Tasmanian Devil has his own PS2 video game. Who knew? Well it turns out a good many of you out there knew of this forgotten gem and wanted me to cover it (apologies if I missed your name in the credits - there was at least one request from a long time ago that I forgot, I just know it). And to my surprise, this game is pretty impressive, considering its subject matter. Who knew a game about a flatulent, gibbering furry lump could be so damn good?! Join me in my (fairly lengthy) commentary as the ever-voracious Taz spins into action once again!

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro (PS1) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

Spidey's about to get the shock of his life! Soon after the defeat of Doc Ock and the symbiote invasion, Spider-Man is called to action following a spattering of suspicious activities involving another band of villains. Indeed, as the plot unfolds, Spidey becomes embroiled in quite the tangled web! Get ready for some terrible basketball, some conspicuous tight pants, and far too many close-ups of Spidey's robust buttcheeks. Oh yes.

 Thanks to Kyle Emerson for the request - I'm aware it's extremely late, as this was requested alongside the previous Spider-Man game review, which I uploaded a year ago. Regardless, hope you enjoy and that I did the game justice.

*Re: 9/11 - This is an extremely heavy and sensitive topic, and one I found very difficult to broach in an otherwise very light and at times comedic video. I hope anyone watching doesn't think I discussed the topic overly insincerely - I merely thought it was worth mentioning, and I was simply pointing out some casual observations.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (PS2) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

Ice Age: The Meltdown is not a favourite movie of mine, but its dramatic and frenetic narrative proves perfect for a video game adaptation. That said, most of the movie's dramatic aspects are downplayed or even completely disregarded here - rather, the developers thought it would be a far more interesting idea to have the player take control of Scrat and forage for nuts instead.

 Big shock. They were wrong. While the game isn't necessarily bad, it never exceeds 'mildly enjoyable', even despite some hilarious mini-games. Get ready to meet some stupid rhinos, terrifying tapirs, some condescending penguins, and a farting bear. What more could you ask for? Hmm? What was that? A movie game that actually follows the events of the movie? Don't be ridiculous!

The Simpsons: Hit & Run (PS2) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

This is the quintessential Simpsons game. And if you're a Simpsons fan and are still yet to play it, just ask yourself, are you really a Simpsons fan? Really?! This game is filled to the brim with references galore. Almost all of the vehicles are derived from episodes of the show, and the driving controls are surprisingly satisfying. But for me, this game's biggest appeal is its map of the town. As Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Apu, you can roam the streets of Springfield and kick as many innocent pedestrians as you like with only the fear of a $50 fine. Where have you had a better offer than that?!

Futurama (PS2) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

Welcome to the world of tomorrow! In 2003, a video game based on Matt Groening's sci-fi sitcom was released! Ever wanted the chance to roam around New New York of your own accord? Well... you still can't. Indeed, this game doesn't allow you to explore the series' universe(s) to the extent that the Simpsons games do. But is it nonetheless a worthy addition to the franchise?

Story-wise, arguably yes. But the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired - it feels a little TOO reminiscent of some older games, and while it might be true that the intention was to pay homage to such titles, the truth is that these older games were much, MUCH better. Who'd have thought the world of tomorrow would maintain such dated mechanics?

First of all, I just wanna apologise for the shocking quality of my video camera footage. I am intending to purchase a new, better camera VERY soon, as the blurriness of the footage is becoming increasingly distracting as the quality of the game footage improves. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy!

Over the Hedge (PS2) - i don't have a nose Video Review!

Back in 2006, DreamWorks unveiled what is arguably possibly one of their most underrated animated features - Over the Hedge. With an all-star cast consisting of the likes of Bruce Willis and Steve Carell, it's quite the surprise it's since been all but forgotten. But is the game faithful to the movie?

As a matter of fact, the game is a wholly different animal, with a wholly different plot. Indeed, the story is... interesting to say the least, as the evil Sniffer has captured a plethora of woodland pests and placed them under his control... for some reason I cannot fathom. Will the villainous Verminator succeed? Not in my back yard!
